Who is this person?

Turns out that was the best money Oilers owner Pocklington ever spent. During the 1980s, this young man led Edmonton to four Stanley Cups.

During the 1985-86 season he scored the most points ever in a single season, 215.

In 1988, he was traded by the Oilers, who were going through severe cash problems, to the Los Angeles Kings.

That same year, he married starlet Janet Jones on July 16 in Edmonton. Today, they have three children -- Paulina, Trevor and Ty.

One year later -- Oct. 15, 1989 -- he finally broke the record that his boyhood idol, Howe, took 26 years to set: He was now the king of points with 1,852.

HE NEVER WON THE CUP with the Kings, although he did bring the L.A. franchise to the Finals in 1993. In 1996, he was on the trade block again, this time going to St. Louis where he had a brief and uneventful career.

The summer of 1977 brought him to New York, where he is now leading the Rangers down the path of NHL glory again as the playoff series continues against the New Jersey Devils.

We could continue to list the accomplishments, but then that would take too long. After all, he holds 71 NHL records to date.

Besides, you already know this living legend. There is only one "Great One" -- No. 99, Wayne Douglas Gretzky.
